From the April newsletter:
Earth Week is a week-long celebration of the Earth and the environment, in order to get environmental sustainability into the hearts and minds of people in our communities, and to have a ton of fun at the same time.
Earth Week 2017 runs April 18th through 21st.
The WOM EcoSchools Team has come up with a fun and challenging way to celebrate Earth Week this year.
WOM ECOSCHOOLS GREEN CHALLENGE
The challenge will focus on some green initiatives; such as promoting recycling, and reducing waste. The more people that participate in the challenges, the greener and cleaner our school, community and planet will be.
The 4 DAY GREEN CHALLENGE will be held from Tuesday, April 18 to Friday, April 21. The challenge will consist of the 4 daily challenges listed below.
- Tuesday April 18 –EAT Green – When packing school lunches, please try to keep with our “reduced litter lunch” initiative and reduce as much litter as possible. You can do this by using reusable lunch bags and packing food in reusable containers. Litterless lunch today!
- Wednesday April 19 – BE Green and LEARN Green – Let’s wear green to show we care about our school, our community and our planet. Learn about recycling at our Earth Week Assemblies.
- Thursday April 20 – DRINK Green – Pack a lunch without single use bottles such as juice boxes, water bottles, and soda pop cans. Instead use reusable drink containers.
- Friday April 21 – SEE Green – Let’s keep an eye out for lights and computer monitors that are not switched off when not in use. Think of all the energy we save when remembering to switch off.
Let’s all work together and help make a difference in our community.
